Yes you heard me…healthierrr…why? coz it does not use any butter lol.
I know I know..not really healthy..still it’s healthierrr.
I was skeptical at first when I read this recipe. But decided to give it a try and tweaked it so my brain would give me the ok to make them.
No butter no oil, yes. Mashed banana, applesauce, egg, vanilla, brown sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and that’s it. Oh don’t forget the chocolate chip in the batter and on the top. Well…chocolate is from the cocoa bean so it’s technically fruit .. yes?
Let’s agree with me here. So this cake except for the E.G.G. can be categorized as almost vegetarian cake. Try it, it’s moist, chocolaty almost to a brownie taste and texture. My vegan coworker liked it. She is my food tester and I trust her judgement ;).
Here is the recipe:
No mixer, all in a bowl, mix the wet ingredients first before adding the dry ingredients and last is the chocolate chip. Then pour the batter into a greased floured 8″ pan, I lined mine with parchment just because I always do. Reduces the risk of any cake sticking to the bottom and therefore caused more stressed and higher risk of making and eating more desserts. After all stressed backwards is desserts right?
here goes nothing…
3 mashed banana
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup applesauce
2 eggs
The dry:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
The goodness morsels:
1 cup chocolate chip for the batter
1/4 cup chocolate chips for the top.
So after you mix all and pour in the pan, then sprinkle 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top of the batter then baked for like 20 minutes in preheated 350 degree F oven.
I think if I reduced the E.G.G. to just 1 it will make a more fudgy chocolate cake like a fudgy brownie like..
